Dorothy Jacobsen was a supervisory nurse and nursing instructor at Elliis Hospital in Schenectady NY.She was tops in her career but other wise lived a secluded life.
She paid little attention to her physical appearance, and wore outdated cloths and heavy,thick-heeled shoes.
She was nearly 40,but appeared closer to 60.Dorothy home was a dimly lite house with no radio or tv and very little furniture.
Dorothy kept to herself most of the time and was always lonely, especially during the long, companionless nights. Then one night alone & friendless, she felt she could stand it no longer.she died by her own hand.. Life for the staff at Ellis hospital went on. Doctors, nurses & technicians came and went. After a few months,Dorothy Jacobsen was forgotten except in a few individuals private thoughts.Nurse Jacobsen may have been forgotten, but she wasn't gone.
Late one night,a nurse who worked with Dorothy was waiting for an elevator. When the the elevator B-1 arrived and the doors opened, the nurse saw a familiar-looking nurse get off the elevator. When she realized how much the nurse looked like Dorothy, her late fellow worker, she followed her down the hall and saw her round a corner. When she herself rounded that same corner an instant later, the hall was empty. Another nurse, who had been a student of Dorothy, was riding in the same elevator.Something for which she couldn't explain, started her thinking about her old teacher. Then suddenly she looked at the polished metal wall of the elevator and saw Dorothy's image reflected there. The young nurse turned around, and their was no one their.when she looked back the image has vanished.Suddenly the temp dropped at least 10 degrees..
Robin Boston Barron,a filmmaker who does medical photography at Ellis hospital, knew nurse jacobson quite well. After her suicide,a young nursing student moved into Dorothy's house.Robin didn't see the girl for a year/When she finally did she her again, she was very depressed and was talking about suicide,"She was dressed just like Dottie right down to the hairstyle"'said robin."I told her to get out of that house now,and she did"
Early one friday morning, about 6:45am,Robin was on her way to the operating room to photograph a new surgical technique. She arrived at the bank of elevators and pushed the button. When the doors opened it was elevator B-1 again, she entered and pushed the operating room floor. The doors closed & the elevator began it's ascent.Robin was sure that she was alone, when the doors closed.Yet she felt that she was not alone. She turned around and saw a nurse standing in the corner. She looked familiar, but she didn't associate her with the late nursing instructor. That is,until she took a second look, she didn't want to stare, but she was sure that his fellow passenger was Dorothy Jacoben..
"It was eerie"Robin said.."I waited for her to get off. but the elevator continued on up and didn't stop until it reached the 6th floor, where the operating room is.When i turned to let her exit ahead of me,i found that i was alone on the elevator. As i stood their in disbelief, the elevator got very cold. Then i began to detect a funny smell, like flowers---no more like perfume"
Others have seen the ghost of Dottie in the elevator B-1.Why does the ghost seem to want to spend eternity riding an elevator B-1 up & down in Ellis hospital in Schenectady NY?
Could it have anything to do with the fact that the nursing school was her whole life when she was alive, and that when she took her life, she was no longer able to contribute to the saving of others?
What ever the reason, you can only be sure that the elevator at Ellis hospital is not the only one that is haunted. The next time you're alone in an elevator, try thinking very hard about whether or not that conveyance is haunted.
Maybe if your lucky something or someone will materialize.......
